Choosing An Insurance Agent
|
|
| |
- How long has the agent been in the insurance business?
- What type of professional designation has he or she attained?
- Life Underwriter Training Council Fellow (LUTCF) Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU) Registered Investment Advisor (RIA) Certified Financial Planner (CFP)
- Those designations show a commitment to the business, and they have qualified themselves to represent their respective specialties
- What is his or her specialty?
- After you have given the agent details of the finances of your business, can he or she clearly explain the different insurance arrangements that can be used to accomplish your goals?
- Does the agent give assurance and demonstrate that he or she is representing the best interests of your business?
- Does your agent return your phone calls promptly?
- Does your agent take the time to make sure you understand your insurance coverage?
- Is the agent optimistic about business insurance and does he or she show a fair attitude about other insurers.
- Does the agent give you all the time you feel you need?
- Is the agent willing and able to explain and compare costs and coverage differences among companies?
If after meeting and dealing with an agent you can affirmatively answer these questions and any others that are important to you, then the agent is doing a good job of representing your best interests.
Whether your business is a sole proprietorship, a partnership, or a corporation, the potential benefits of a good Insurance program will make it well worth your time studying.
